WHO WE ARE The Autism Council is a culturally diverse Rochester NY health & human service organization focused on the unique needs of individuals with Autism, Asperger's, developmental disabilities and their family needs. The agency excels in providing high quality and RESULTS oriented support & services to a culturally & socioeconomically diverse Rochester population of children and young adults with Autism & Asperger's. It is through our collaboration with family members, caregivers, local agencies, county agency partners, and our greater Rochester business partners, that we have been successful throughout the Rochester community for over 15 years. Our goal is to create UNIQUE opportunities in Rochester for inclusion in all areas of our community members lives. Our agency is the ONLY one of its kind in New York State to create the "Autism Friendly Community" Designation. Where we have partnered with various towns in the area to ensure that our families living with Autism are supported in their own communities. Also our agency is also the ONLY one of its kind in New York State to create a unique Housing Partnership with Habitat For Humanity making home ownership along with much needed Autism sensory modifications a reality for our families. Our agency also provides an annual Job & Career Fair workforce development opportunity for businesses and individuals with Autism to come together and network. . OUR VISION The vision of The Autism Council of Rochester is to create a community where we embrace and celebrate neurodiversity differences, and treat all people with respect and dignity. WHO WE SERVE Rochester Youth and Adults ages 14 and up living with Autism Spectrum Disorders and other developmental disabilities. Rochester families in need of support in coping and living with children and young adults with ASD. Service providers, educators, medical professionals, law enforcement & first responders, and the general community at large in search of education, training workshops and tools & techniques to better support our community members on the Autism Spectrum.
