Main St. 56 Theater

Batavia Players- Main St. 56 Theater is a performing arts organization that has served our community for the past 90 years. In addition to main stage productions, the theater also has established a fully-fledged educational component that includes, but is not limited to, our Summer Youth Theater Program (12 to 21 years of age), Our Children's Theater Camp (5 to 12 years of age) and our After School Fall, Winter and Spring Program (2nd grade to 8th grade). One of our biggest successes has been our ability to include children, teens and adults with special needs or educational classifications in our productions. We have a group of classified young people on the Autism spectrum that we have worked with to provide stage and acting experience. This past year we also included adults as well. We also provide a large costume department for local high school and college use, and maintain a very healthy prop and furniture department. Our Board of Directors is comprised of 21 community members 3 of which are students at our local schools and colleges. We also have a wide range of people depending on their individual interest in the arts and community association that serve on our Board. We currently have a House Management, Box Office and Usher Staff of approximately 50 people and a membership of well over 300 people. We also work in collaboration with the Batavia Society of Artists, the Rochester Gay Alliance, Leadership Genesee and other local arts groups on a regular basis. Our performers range in ability and experience from beginners to trained actors. We also have a wonderful group of house musicians that perform as our pit orchestra. All of our professionals have worked in the field and provide us with high-quality services. Our performers come to us from 11 Counties, and we are the only year-round Performing Arts Center and theater in WNY. We currently are in production from January 1st to Christmas, with just a brief break over the holiday season. We are profoundly grateful for the continued support of our community.
