Breast Cancer Coalition

The Breast Cancer Coalition (Coalition) is a grassroots, community-based organization dedicated to serving those touched by a breast or gynecologic cancer. We perform our mission through our four pillars: Education, Support, Advocacy & Research. We offer a variety of education and support programs to those living with a breast or gynecologic cancer diagnosis. All of our programs are offered free of charge. Such programs include: "Brown Bag Friday" support groups, the PALS (Peer Advocates Lending Support) program, healing arts classes, education seminars, writing workshops, the Young Survivor Gathering and more. Additionally, we recognize that a cancer diagnosis does not stop with the survivor - the entire family is affected. That is why we offer an array of programing for spouses, children, parents, and friends of those diagnosed. Next, our Advocacy Committee works diligently to create and maintain relationships with local, state, and national officials so that we may have opportunities to advocate for and lend support to breast and gynecological cancer relevant bills and public policies. Our work also focuses on reducing risks to toxic exposures. Finally, our Research Initiative provides grant funding for breast cancer research, including: Cause; Prevention; Metastatic Disease, Cure. As of this year, the Coalition’s Research Initiative has awarded more than $1 Million to area researchers since 2003.
