ABOUT DEEP ARTS
DEEP Arts is a 501(c)3 professional theatre organization whose mission is: to offer high quality, cultural
experiences that entertain while fostering enrichment, communication, positive values and an awareness of
literature, social and historical issues to as broad and diverse an audience as possible. Founded in 1991 as a
company (Rochester Children's Theatre) solely focused on family theatre, DEEP Arts transitioned to develop new innovative work and has
expanded focus to reflect a more expansive and collaborative expression of its mission with partnerships
creating multidisciplinary artworks for a wide range of audiences.
DEEP Arts is led by Executive Artistic Director Deborah Haber and engages with artist collaborators:
Composer Casey Filiaci, Puppet Master James Silson, and Film Director/Producers Rob McGowan and David Marshall.
Projects include:
Sweet House - an original musical which partnered with Michelle Obama’s Let’s Move initiative,
Moses Man: Finding Home - a musical about a true story of a Holocaust survivor's 9 - year journey of displacement and how his journey connects with the current world displacement and the rising anti-semitism today. Moses Man has an on-going Indiana University visual/performing arts symposium/partnership.
Finding Home - a documentary film focused on world renown artists addressing displacement in their work.
The LIKAH! Project - a new family musical and a story book. Real life Border Collie, Likah, is the inspiration for this very special musical series. Viewers young and old are immediately drawn into Likah’s charming world of exploration, wonder, and adventure as she discovers life’s lessons and challenges. As Likah journeys one whimsical and joyful experience after another, she also experiences life’s unexpected bumps in the road. The LIKAH! Project addresses those challenges straight on with honesty and resolve. One dominant challenge Likah faces is the experience of losing someone dear, a situation much of the country has recently experienced. LIKAH! recognizes the importance of developing comforting and uplifting support tools for a range of circumstances, creating a gateway to conversation
DEEP ARTS www.deeparts.org is proud to partner with these amazing social service organizations whose
