Our mission is to help families experiencing homelessness to achieve sustainable independence through a community-based response.
In the 2021-2022 school year, 346 school age children were homeless in Ontario County. The 346 includes children 5 – 18 years old but does not include children under 5 years old who have not yet entered school. In fact, 50% of homeless children are under age 5. In 2022, 150 families have contacted Family Promise for emergency housing. Our 6 apartments have been consistently full since opening them a year ago. Currently, there are no other homeless shelters in Ontario County for children and families.
Family Promise of Ontario County Inc. delivers comprehensive support and services through professional casework management and collaboration with other agencies. Services include help finding secure, affordable independent housing, help in finding a job, navigation of healthcare programs for all family members, development of financial literacy and securing reliable transportation – all provided at no cost to the client.
