Girls on the Run of Greater Rochester

Girls on the Run of Greater Rochester is a physical activity based positive youth development program for girls in 3rd - 8th grade. We teach life skills through dynamic, interactive lessons and running games. Lesson themes include Star Power, standing up for ourselves and others, naming and managing our emotions, and making intentional decisions. The program culminates with the girls being physically and emotionally prepared to complete a celebratory 5k running event, as well as completing a team community impact project. The goal of the program is to unleash confidence through accomplishment while establishing a lifetime appreciation of health and fitness. We believe all girls are born with power and purpose. We inspire every girl to reach her limitless potential, not just for the length of our program, but for life. How your donation helps: It's our goal to never turn a girl away! We have established a scholarship fund that ensures any girl who wants to participate in our program can, regardless of financial barrier. $2,250 - program fees for one whole team of 15 girls $600 - running shoes for one whole team of 15 girls $150 - program fee for one girl $40 - running shoes for one girl $27 - running buddy registration for one girl More about Girls on the Run: The 10 week curriculum is delivered by trained Girls on the Run coaches twice per week. At the end of the 10 weeks, all of the girls, their coaches and families come together to run a 5K. Girls on the Run is an international program founded in 1996. Our Rochester council was established in 2010 and have served over 10,000 girls in the Rochester area since inception. We started with just 80 girls in Monroe County and expanded into Livingston, Wayne and Ontario Counties and had 1,295 girls participate this year in 2023. The Rochester community has embraced this program but we need more support to help reach as many girls as we can. The fee to participate in the program is $150.00 and covers program materials the volunteer coaches need to deliver the program including the curriculum, t-shirt, medal, and a race day goodie bag each girl and coach receives. There are also costs associated with the end of season 5K as well as the legal requirements such as insurance, background checks, training for each volunteer, web hosting, licensing fees and other supplies. You can see for yourself how this program impacts the lives of girls and their families in our community by volunteering to coach for our Spring program starting in March 2024! For more information, we invite you to visit our web page or social media pages! Thank you for considering Girls on the Run as your choice to ROC the Day.
