International Sister Cities of Rochester, NY, Inc.

International Sister Cities of Rochester, NY, Inc., is a volunteer-based not-for-profit agency, which operates the sister cities program of Rochester, NY, established in 1958 and today including twelve sister cities relationships world-wide. The program builds international people-to-people friendships and other relationships through citizen diplomacy that contribute to international understanding and world peace. The sister cities relationships are authorized by the city councils of the partner cities and formalized by agreements signed by their mayors. Activities range from cultural, educational, and sports exchanges through professional and technical exchanges, to humanitarian aid projects, all depending on the initiative and resources marshaled by the program volunteers and partner institutions from throughout the Rochester region. Three of Rochester's sister cities relationships have been active for more than 50 years; our newest is in its ninth year.
