Mary’s Place Refugee Outreach is a nonprofit located on Lexington Avenue in NW Rochester.
We offer free programs and services to resettled refugees in Rochester.
We are open 11:00 – 4:00 Monday –Friday.
From 2020 - 2021:
Mary's Place delivered food to 1035 people
Provided 1 on 1 case management to over 203 people
Filed over 65 Naturalization and Green Card applications
Partnered with Willow to better assist survivors of domestic violence
Hosted 2 pop-up COVID-19 vaccine clinics
Began work with SUNY Brockport on an original study of refugee life post-integration here in Rochester
Programs and Services:
• English Classes and Tutoring
o Daily Adult English language classes M-F
o Small group or one-on-one tutoring focused on reading, writing, and citizenship test preparation.
• Case Management
o One-on-one social work services daily Monday-Friday
• Job Skills Program
o Class focused on American cultural norms, soft job skills, resume and job application as-sistance
o Collaboration with Nazareth College during Fall/Spring semesters
• Food and Clothing Distribution
o Contactless Food Delivery throughout COVID-19 that serves nearly 1000 people each week.
• Immigration Support Services
o Provide qualified assistance and representation as refugees and asylees apply for and receive Legal Permanent Residency (green card) and Citizenship
• Summer Children’s Day Camp
o 6-week day camp held July-August
o Free swim lessons at Maplewood YMCA
o Daily lunch and snacks provided by Foodlink Summer Meals Program
• Holiday Party
o December party for adults and children affiliated with Mary’s Place
o Distribution of over 300 toys, warm weather accessories, and other gifts
o Dinner provided with assistance from Wegmans
• Backpack Distribution
o Distribution of over 390 backpacks, school supplies, and other items.
