Mental Health Association of Rochester

The Mental Health Association of Rochester (MHA Rochester) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization supporting the mental wellness of the Rochester/Monroe, Ontario, and Livingston County communities. Our mission is to empower individuals, parents, and youth to make choices and take actions that encourage mental wellness through a spectrum of culturally competent programs and services. MHA Rochester offers individualized and group support to community members, helping them make informed decisions about their mental health and exploring solutions and strategies to promote long-term wellness and recovery. Established in 1932, MHA Rochester has been committed to the concepts of self-help, mutual support, wellness, and recovery. With over 80% of staff identifying as a peer or family member of a person with a mental illness we believe that our assistance helps individuals with mental health needs live meaningful lives in the community and minimizes health crises. We offer services provided by individuals with lived mental health experience setting us apart from other traditional mental health organizations in our community. MHA Rochester supports the community with a variety of trauma-informed and culturally competent workshops, support groups, peer support, and referral services based on the needs of the person or family. We proudly collaborate with other community-based organizations and formal mental health and substance use treatment providers in our area. MHA Rochester envisions a time when the stigma of mental illness will be eliminated, and all residents of our community will have access to a full continuum of high-quality, easily accessible, and culturally competent mental health services, regardless of their ability to pay.
