Newark-Arcadia Volunteer Ambulance Inc

NAVA began as a community based volunteer agency on July 1, 1977 through the efforts of three nurses from the Newark Wayne Community Hospital (NWCH) who felt that the community needed access to pre-hospital emergency care. NWCH embraced the idea and joined forces to offer their support. EMS has evolved in recent years from a largely volunteer based system to paid career staff. The call volume has increased from approximately 800 in 1977 to over 3000 in 2022.
