Rochester Downtown Development Corporation

A very lean organization, the Rochester Downtown Development Corporation (RDDC) is a private, not-for-profit 501(c)(3) focused on creating a downtown that is vibrant, inclusive, economically strong, and welcoming to everyone. RDDC works on behalf of downtown’s many stakeholders and tracks downtown’s housing and office markets, and markets the center of the city. One of its largest projects is The Commissary, a brand new food business incubator and shared kitchen – a key asset to downtown’s growing business incubation environment. The region’s first food business incubator and accelerator, it is designed to serve food truck operators, startup restaurants, bakers, caterers, home-based businesses looking to legalize, and food manufacturing and production startups. RDDC is increasingly focused on place-making, working to support the Downtown Innovation Zone (DIZ), and operate Eat Up Rochester’s Restaurant Week. Downtown is everybody’s neighborhood, and RDDC has become the primary private sector voice for downtown residents, visitors, investors, workers, and property owners. RDDC has 3 full-time staff, and a 45-member Board of Directors with representation from the real estate, banking, legal, arts & cultural, corporate, innovation, and higher-ed sectors.
