For nearly 30 years, St. Joseph’s Neighborhood Center has provided primary medical care, mental health counseling, advocacy, and supportive services to more than 3,000 people each year who are under and uninsured in our community.
More than 400 volunteer physicians, mental health counselors, specialists, and lay volunteers provide care to patients from the Rochester area and eight surrounding counties. Medical services include primary care, specialty services, diagnostic radiology, eye care, hearing, women’s health, complementary care, and mental health counseling. More than 70% of the people who come to the Center for care are employed but do not earn enough to afford their health care. The Center is open five days and three evenings per week to accommodate the individuals and families we serve. Neighborhood Center staff can also help assess insurance options and other services that may be available.
The Center is funded wholly by donations, some grant funding, and modest client fees based upon an individual’s ability to pay. We are most grateful for volunteers and generous community support, which has enabled St. Joseph’s Neighborhood Center to provide this critical healthcare to the Greater Rochester community since 1993.
Our 2023 priorities include:
• Strengthening and building out our infrastructure
• Inclusion, diversity, equity, accessibility, and action
• Enlarging our community presence
