The Family Autism Connection/ Camp Puzzle Peace, Inc

The Family Autism Connection in Rochester, NY is home to Camp Puzzle Peace, a grassroots non-profit organization created by a collaboration of educators and parents. Our mission is to provide traditional family experiences for families in The Greater Rochester Area dealing with Autism Spectrum Disorder and other developmental delays. We provide skill-building opportunities to families and children that promote independence, healthy active lifestyles, networking and greater opportunities for families to participate in their community. Our staff are educational and community professionals who have extensive experience working with children on the Autism Spectrum and other developmental delays, particularly those with significant communication and behavioral difficulties. We provide families an opportunity to have a vacation experience in the Adirondack Mountains. Families with children that have more significant behavioral needs struggle to take vacations and often times are isolated in the community. We bring highly qualified staff to the Adirondacks to provide a supported vacation experience. In 2013, we brought five families to camp. This past summer (2021), we had over 30 families for a four day stay. We rely heavily on community support to help offset the cost to families. Our programs consist of technology programs, community based sporting activities, water safety and adaptive swim, summer family camp sessions in the Adirondacks and Community Connections summer camp.
