For nearly 150 years, the Rochester Historical Society has been collecting, preserving and interpreting the archives and artifacts that are part of this community's history. From photographs documenting our growth … paintings depicting Rochester's leaders and landscapes … items and clothing reflecting our life and times … books and archives that record our progress, we serve as the stewards of the most comprehensive collection of Rochester's history outside of that owned by the City itself. Members use our resources for their own projects or research. They join for many reasons — intellectual, altruistic, visionary or simply to be part of a beloved "Rochester Institution." Our members include young people, retired people and everyone in between. Some get very involved and volunteer to help with our collections. Others simply want to support an organization that means so much to an always evolving community.
